Timeline
My inspiration for pursuing a career in physics came from my father, Boris G. Skorodumov, a nuclear physicist who published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals. The one that impacted me the most is "Determination of Hydrogen in Materials, Nuclear Physics Methods, 1989".
2008 - Present
At this point, I ended my formal association with nuclear physics and transitioned to
the field of quantitative finance.
1995
I was invited to attend a summer school at Novosibirsk State
University, where I took
math classes at the Summer School of NSU.
This experience provided me with a solid foundation in mathematics and allowed me
to continue my academic journey at Lyceum #1511 where I
specialized in physics
and mathematics.
1996 - 2002
As an undergraduate student at Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, I participated
in multiple nuclear physics research projects at
Kurchatov Institute,
Joint Institute for
Nuclear Research, and
University of Jyvaskyla.
I was also invited by
DESY and
GSI organizations to participate in international
summer programs where I was exposed to
particle physics.
During this period of my life, I was inspired by and mentored by
Prof. Vladilen
Goldberg for which I am very grateful.
DESY International Student Program,
Berlin, Germany, 2002
GSI International Student Program, Darmstadt, Germany,
2000
2003 - 2007
As a graduate student at the University of Notre Dame , I
specialized in low-energy
experimental nuclear physics. My research focused on the structure of light nuclei,
as well as the structure of exotic neutron-rich and neutron-deficient isotopes.
I also studied clustering phenomena in nuclei, mechanisms of nuclear reactions, and
applications of nuclear physics methods for determining rates of nuclear reactions
that drive nucleosynthesis.
During my Ph.D. studies, I received guidance and support from Prof. Grigory
Rogachev for which I am very grateful.
My Ph.D. thesis, titled “Resonance Reactions Induced by Light Radioactive Beams”
was completed at the University of Notre Dame in 2007. You can download it here.
